In the 1979 series, ten prototype vehicles were manufactured in 1979, and after various tests on the JNR Chuo Line, they were put into commercial operation. This is the first Japanese National Railways car to use armature chopper control, and has received a great deal of attention as an energy-saving vehicle. After reflecting the test results, a mass-produced vehicle appeared in 1981 and was introduced to the Sobu Line and Tokaido Line in addition to the JNR Chuo Line. The H2 formation was active on the Chuo Line in the formation including the top numbered vehicles. This set is a set of 5 H1 formations active on the Chuo Line. By combining with the A set released at the same time, you can make a full formation of 10 vehicles.
